This is my grandmother and my aunt Connie. They lived and worked hard on Bois Blanc. The Wehrle Company, Newark, OH. Est. 1883. At peak the company had 20 acres under roof, 3000 employees, and peak production was 1400 stoves in a day. This is one brand that Sears sold in it's catalog. Sold to Sears 1944, sold to Roper 1964, closed 1975. This marks the SW corner of section 5. It has the same letters on top as the last monument I showed on this site. That means the letters do not refer to a location. The letters US LHE may refer to the United States Lighthouse Establishment.

This monument is located in a deep cedar swamp near an old trail that goes south back to a pond. It leans quite a bit. After the last light keeper, Henry Metivier, left and the lighthouse closed, a fourth tower was built. This picture shows Wooden's Camp for Girls in operation. The 4th tower was just North East of the lighthouse tower a short distance.

The light house property was reduced in size from being the entire section down to the northern part of the point circa 1900. This monument marked the boundry. Fred Hartlep on stump. Found this some time back on internet. Who are these people? Is this a Vosper camp? I heard that a Vosper wife worked in their camps. I wonder if that is her with the Gabriel Horn? Lana runs a marathon. I like this picture. Lana does not like it because she is showing her muscles. You have to have muscles to run though.
